This week is National Apprenticeship Week, and a great opportunity to celebrate the success of our very first Apprentice Tracy Grew.
Prior to joining Yutree Tracy worked for Royal Mail and retail. With a grown-up son, Tracy decided to embark on a new career for herself and applied for an underwriting assistant role at Yutree.
Her role as Trainee Underwriter involved learning all aspects of the Underwriting business, supporting brokers with quotes, renewals and general enquiries – predominately from home.
Within 2 weeks of joining the country went into national lockdown and all of Yutree’s staff were sent to work from home. Tracy had to learn the job, study for her apprenticeship, and support the team from home, on her own. During the next 12 months, Tracy not only pushed through her apprenticeship and passed her CII exams to become Cert CII, but she learnt the basics of her role extremely quickly. Tracy quickly became invaluable in the new business efforts as she logged quotes, carried out checks, allocated quotes to underwriters and flagged up urgent cases.
Tracy has progressed remarkably having successfully completed her Insurance Practitioner Level 3 apprenticeship and Cert CII qualifications. Furthermore, a year and a half after starting a new career in the insurance industry, Tracy won the highly sought-after Insurance Institute of Cambridge’s Rising Star Award.
Testament to her success and value to our business, a partner broker of Yutree supported by Tracy commented, “Tracy is our first point of contact and deals with all of our quotation requests, orders and policy documentation. As a small business we have to provide an excellent customer service to our clients, and we are very grateful for the support that Tracy gives us when we have to ask her for a quick turnaround of paperwork, a not unusual request! She is professional and efficient but also very friendly and easy to deal with – a perfect combination.”
Yutree Director, Laura Hancock, commented, “Tracy has learnt the job, supported the team in busy and very unusual times, maintained her studies, and all from home. What Tracy achieved during the pandemic was remarkable and she should be extremely proud of herself.”
She is looking forward to building on her career as an Underwriter and the success of the apprenticeship programme has resulted in a second placement at Yutree.
